We are a Consortium of 21st century students and artists who aim to explore traditional disciplines within the context of a modern world. The collection of work we are preparing for the spring show reveals adirect confrontation between the artist and reality. During the beginning of the exhibition opening artist James Woodard will be performing a collaboration sound piece that will exist as an individual piece, but interact with the body of work as a whole. By combining old forms media with new forms of expression we aim to achieve a common aesthetic; that is, physical expression through media exploration. From large-scale paintings and drawings that possess gestural elements and dynamic movements to a sound piece that becomes a part of reality itself,this collection reveals a deliberate intimacy between the artist and the world we see ourselves as a part of.
Consortium is curated by San Antonio College Art Guild Council which presents art works by SAC students and alumni. The artists include Sydney Acosta, Victoria Campbell, Yuko Fukuzumi, Xavier Gillmore, Nick Hay, Alex Mendez, Lizeth Nino, and James Woodard.
